Last March, the Windsor ladies and I discussed adopting a fish for my birthday. We even had her name picked out: Jennifer Rose. After a bit of research, it became a bit too complicated and the idea was pushed aside. I was disappointed at our foiled attempt. We simply wanted an orange goldfish in a traditional goldfish bowl. This is now considered unethical in the fish world...apparently aquariums should be used for all fish except bettas...but alas, bettas aren't orange.
One day I had an epiphany. Kathy, my talented artist sister, made a bird mobile out of sculpted felt. Why not a fish? I promptly commissioned her to make me a little orange friend. When he was finished, (Kathy says it's a male fish but his name was already Jennifer Rose and I think he's ok with that) I bought a fish bowl and some pretty rocks, and hung him from the ceiling by a string of fishing line. When the wind blows from the open window....he swims. How delightful. Check out Kathy's Etsy shop here: Leaves on Trees.

What a great idea! No cleaning up the bowl or worrying about feeding her everyday.
